Meet various ESA teams at the ISD2020 and schedule B2B meetings with them.
The list below is non-exhaustive. Register for the ISD, visit the ISD catalogue and search for “ESA” to see all Agency participants.
Public-Private Partnerships for Space Exploration
ESA offers public private partnership opportunities for the European private sector to engage as ESA’s strategic partner for space exploration activities. The Agency supports innovative business cases that deliver new commercial services, technologies, and products in the frame of ESA’s European Exploration Envelope Programme (E3P). Opportunities include, for example, market-driven utilisation of the International Space Station (ISS) and exploration of the Moon (incl. payload transportation services, developing lunar lander technologies, human habitation and using local resources).
How to Partner with ESA:
- ISS Flight Opportunities
- Commercial ISS Research in Microgravity (life & physical sciences, pharma, medical and biotech research)
- Support for Business Opportunities in LEO and Moon
- Downstream Benefits
- European industrial capabilities
- Private sector interest and investment in space exploration
- New non-space users of ESA LEO infrastructures (e.g. ISS)
Technology Transfer and Patent Office
The Technology Transfer and Patent Office (TTPO) actively explores novel business opportunities by identifying and supporting terrestrial applications for space technology. The team provide funding and technical support for ESA’s technology transfer activities. These aim to de-risk space-origin technology for potential application in terrestrial markets.
Furthermore, the TTPO manages and provides access to ESA’s Patent Portfolio for industrial exploitation. ESA-owned patents are available on a free-license basis for space applications for ESA Member State industry. For all other cases, ESA patents may be subject to license fees.
During the ISD the team will connect with and forge links between space and all other industrial entities. Meet the TTPO team and discuss your interest in commercialising your capabilities and technologies beyond the space sector.

ESA – HRE – Exploration Preparation, Research and Technology (ExPeRT)
The Exploration Preparation, Research and Technology (ExPeRT) team plans and implements preparatory system studies and technology development activities for all ESA exploration destinations, including LEO, Cis-lunar, Moon, Mars. Studies supported within ExPeRT present an excellent entry point for SMEs.
Meet the team during the ISD and schedule a B2B meeting to find out more.
ESA – TEC-PI Infrastructure Management Section
Contact the ESA – ESTEC laboratories coordinator if you require any information about the TEC laboratories and how to use them.
The team will also give a presentation about the TEC lab capabilities and simplified access for industrial entities to the laboratories during the ISD.
ESA – Country Desk Officers (Industrial Policy)
The IPL Country Desk Officers are the main points of contact for industrial matters within ESA’s Industrial Policy and SME Division.
They are responsible for supporting industry to identify and leverage ESA opportunities and to address specific industrial policy matters.
Get to know your country’s Industrial Policy Country Desk Officer during the Industry Space Days and schedule a B2B meeting.
